A native Californian, I now live in Carmel on the central coast. Having escaped from Silicon Valley where I managed engineering projects, I'm now a writer, teacher and editor. In 2006 I became a Master Gardener and began writing articles for the Monterey Bay Master Gardener quarterly newsletter.

I'm new to Studio 101. My articles about a wide range of gardening topics from endangered plants to edible flowers appear on

www.gardenguides.com. My garden is my refuge and never-completed project. (A good garden is never done.) I have bird feeders and fountains surrounded by native plants and trees. Bring on the birds and butterflies! Look for my articles about gardening, especially landscaping with native plants, on Studio 101.

Since I am lucky enough to live so close to it, the ocean is a source of both energy and relaxation. My five years as a volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium provides me with knowledge of environmental science provided by world-renowned experts. Each week I spend an afternoon interpreting exhibits for visitors. The environment and state of the ocean will be a topic for future articles on Studio 101. I'm an accomplished cook who enjoys preparing and eating healthy foods including sustainable seafood. Articles about food and healthy eating are also on my "write it now" list.

For three years I wrote and edited standardized reading test passages for McGraw-Hill. I currently edit children's books, cookbooks and memoirs for clients. Always a teacher, my computer students learn to make the most of their personal computers in my classes. My Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences is from University of California, Berkeley. I've also studied linguistics.
